Lawrence was a renowned Sculptor, painter,photographer and teacher, born in Hopkinstown, Pontypridd, Glamorgan.

His work in Oils,water colour,metals ceramics all show how accomplished his work was.

Photography was was a medium that showed the true accomplishment of this talented and rounded art visionary.

His vast collection has more to offer so again watch this space.

He clearly had a mind to follow trends of the day but ploughed his own path in the art world.

His use of scale form and materials truly show his versatility in all disciplines.

The sheer scale of some of his pieces would have daunted many artists but his enthusiasm for large pieces has shone through with the piece entitle “Moon rocks” which forms the Center piece of his work which Is for sale via our website.

Dandy Gallery are hosting an exhibition in Early December of his work with more information to follow.

He was inspired by many contemporaries of the day and you can see many influences in his work by the likes of Caulder,Barbara Hepworth ,John Cherington,and Henry more to name but a few of his influences.

He Studied teacher training at St Luke’s College, Exeter, then did National Service in Royal Air Force.

Then he went on to teach, becoming head of craft and technical department at St Ilan Comprehensive School in Caerphilly.

Then In 1965 he won the Dunlop Semtex Mural Competition for a mural in Brynmawr.

He showed in exhibitions at Royal National Eisteddfod, SEA, SWG and with WAC, RA and New Art Centre. CASW bought his copper sculpture Standing Figure.

All in all we feel honoured to now bring to market these unusual striking pieces.
